Presenting at the 2013 Kick It Out Conference

I was honoured to be invited to speak at the 2013 Kick It Out Conference (entitled: Raise Your Game) alongside football pundit Garth Crooks and professional footballer and PFA Chairman Clarke Carlisle.

The day centered on helping young people break into the football industry with 30 mentors (working in a cross section of areas within football) advising over 100 young people about next steps in the industry.

As a football/soccer psychologist I was asked to key note speak about mindset and achievement. I presented on ‘finding 1% nudges’ and using ‘power poses’ during key performance moments in life and the workplace.

The presentation was warmly received – I’m looking forward to returning next year as the football/soccer psychologist for the Kick It Out (Raise Your Game) Conference.

The following images were taken during the presentation, with the image immediately below getting Garth Crooks (ex pro footballer and BBC pundit) and Clarke Carlisle (Chairman of PFA and pro footballer) into ‘Power Poses’.

Then further down the page, Troy Townsend – Mentoring and Leadership Project Manager kindly provides a testimonial.

Troy Townsend Testimonial

“Dan left a lasting impression on everybody after delivering a motivational talk at Kick It Out’s Raise Your Game mentoring and leadership conference.”

“His energetic and upbeat style really helped set the tone for the day, engaging an audience of young aspiring individuals looking to break into the football industry.”

“A host of leading names from across the game were present at the event, including Fabrice Muamba, Clarke Carlisle, Garth Crooks and Bradley Johnson, speaking about their own life experiences and the obstacles they have overcome.”

“The examples Dan used in his presentation linked in perfectly to the theme of the day, and everybody in attendance was able to visualise what small adaptations they could make to help enhance their performance.”

“A particular aspect of Dan’s delivery which made an immediate impact was his mention of how individuals should look to achieve ‘1% nudges’ in all they do to help maximise their potential in gradual stages.”

“Kick It Out’s Twitter timeline was flooded with mentions of this particular quote throughout the event and for days after, and helped give the participants the extra confidence boost they needed to push on in their chosen pathway.”

“Dan’s cutting edge techniques make his service truly unique and one which we would highly recommend. It’s no wonder he is held in such high regard internationally – there wouldn’t be a moment’s hesitation in hiring him again.”
