Dan was invited to speak to soccer coaches in Johannesburg, South Africa. Around 40 soccer coaches attended the event, mostly from South Africa, but also from Namibia, Ethiopia, and Nairobi. In attendance were several former South African International players.

Dan delivered an interactive two day course that was divided into three parts – all related to soccer psychology. Part one asked coaches to become a better psycho-social coaches by putting the psychological and social sides of the game first. It is Dan’s view that technique, tactics and physicality are principally mediated by the psycho-social side of coaching.

Part two introduced coaches to simple techniques to help players high perform more consistently under pressure. Dan was given permission by several of his EPL clients to discuss their specific cases. Dan taught the coaches simple ways to implement psychological skills into their coaching to enhance their ability to help players compete on the pitch.

Finally, part three was spent in the classroom and out on the pitch. Dan delivered a session on intentional training and taught coaches how to help players develop an individual development programme
